Cobalt is one of the most versatile elements for use in catalytic reactions. Cobalt containing products are used in treating of petroleum to produce a wide variety of products. Cobalt is used in reactions such as Hydro-Desulphurization, Hydro-Denitrogenation, Hydro-Deoxygenation, etc.

Shepherd's high cobalt content cobalt carbonate monohydrate is the standard in the industry and can be packaged in containers to suit each catalyst manufacturer's handling needs. Shepherd's cobalt oxide CN grade is considered a highly effective product in the production of Oxo-Alcohols.

Shepherd also produces high purity Cobalt Nitrate as crystals or solution for Gas to Liquid (GTL) application.
